Green Bean Casserole
Green Bean Casserole is one of the easiest side dishes you can make for a large family dinner and it is usually a crowd favorite! You can make a super basic Green Bean Casserole with 3-4 ingredients or you can do what I do and put your own spin on it and go EXTRA to really make it the BEST GB casserole around. I like to add fresh sliced mushrooms and even sometimes bacon and or extra cheese. I also go a little extra on the crispy onion sometimes because they are fun!
Serving Size: 1 Large Casserole Dish
Ingredients
4-398ml Cans of Cut Green Beans, drained
1 Large Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
2.5 Cups Fried Onions
1 Cup Mushrooms, sliced
1 Cup Shredded Cheese
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Onion, thinly chopped
6 Cloves Garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. Butter/Margarine
Salt and Pepper to taste
4-6 Strips Bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)**
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350F degrees. In a medium-large skillet over medium heat, melt the margarine and add the onions and cook for about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms, then cook for another 5 minutes. Next, add the garlic and cook for another 2 minutes. Add the mushroom soup and mix (add the bacon at this point too). Stir in the milk and cheese then mix well until the cheese is melted. Add salt and pepper also until desired taste is reached.
Add the green beans in then mix well. Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray then pour the entire mixture into the dish. Top with 1/2 the fried onions.
Bake uncovered for approx 30 minutes or until it starts to bubble. When there is approximately 15 minutes left in baking, add the remaining fried onions and continue baking. Remove from the oven and serve!
